Personal Property Inventory and Appraisal Reports
PROPERTY INVENTORY
Our staff can prepare an inventory complete with photos when needed. This is often done if the estate
has a contentious nature or if there are multiple heirs receiving property. Compiling an inventory will often
prevent problems with property theft and will assist you in the distribution of property in complex multi-heir
estates. An inventory is almost always done if heirs will receive the property. Appraised values are then
assigned creating a formal estate appraisal. We charge an hourly fee for this service and cost will be
commensurate with the size of the estate.
PERSONAL PROPERTY APPRAISAL
Personal property appraisals are necessary for tax purposes to complete the estate process. Some examples of
items that we have appraised include fine art, automobiles and equipment, antiques, collectibles, rare books
and magazines, and ivory.
If items are to be sold at auction an appraisal is redundant as the sale value will be used for tax purposes. However, items received by heirs or gifted to charities and institutions will require a fair market value appraisal to finalize the estate tax returns. We also do appraisals for insurance purposes, bankruptcy, divorce, business settlements and other situations where valuation is necessary. If real estate appraisals are required we can assist you in finding a professional appraiser and make that part of our proposal. E-mail us to schedule a no-obligation free consultation.
